The earth is a mirror.
The moment we can start to see ourselves as the earth, maybe we’ll start to take care of her and the living things that are all around.
The health of the planet and it’s inhabitants are strictly related to our health and our relationships with ourselves.
When I really think about it, it’s no wonder we don’t treat the planet with more respect when, for centuries, we’ve been treating other humans like garbage. Wars, slavery, (ongoing) genocides, these not only effect humans on a deep level, but these occurrences damage the planet and nature.
If, on the most basic level, we can’t treat humans with love and dignity, how do we expect those in power (who are truly some of the most damaged souls) to treat the planet with the love and dignity it deserves?
This is a long, nuanced and never ending conversation, I realize that. And I’m under no spell thinking this simple Substack entry will change the world. But I do believe, profoundly, that the changes that are made on a personal level (mentally, physically, all of it) can reverberate through the world.
The sooner we start to take care of our inner workings, doing the introspective work, asking big and scary questions about why we’re here - then, maybe then, we can start caring for our true Mother the way we should have been all along.
I couldn’t agree more. We were in SE Asia recently and I was shocked by the amount of rubbish and pollution.
But even here at home in the uk, some places are struggling. And I think you are spot on about how we feel about ourselves depends on how we treat others, and by proxy, the world
