What You're Not Doing for the Planet Right Now...
(and why that’s okay)
Confession time, friends:
I am not currently growing my own vegetables (but someday soon, it’s a dream of mine). Also, I’m not making my own laundry detergent (although I have dabbled), riding my bike everywhere (but I pretty much walk everywhere), nor have I gone 100% plastic free (another dream yet to be achieved).
And you know what? That’s okay.
We can’t do everything for the planet all at once. Sustainable living isn’t an all-or-nothing sport—it’s a practice, and sometimes we’re in a season of our lives where certain actions just aren’t possible.
Maybe you’re skipping the farmer’s market because money’s tight at the moment or maybe you’re still buying packaged snacks because your brain is fried and convenience is survival right now. Or maybe you just need a break from thinking about climate news every waking second.
That’s not failure—it’s balance.
Your action step this week:
Instead of obsessing over what you can’t do, double down and focus on one thing you can do, well, right now.
Carry your reusable bottle. Eat plant-based for one meal a day. Shop local for one item instead of three. If there’s something you need, try to find it used or borrow it from someone.
Progress isn’t about perfection, it’s about momentum and consistency.
Sound off in the comments: What’s one thing you’re not doing for the planet right now, and how are you giving yourself grace about it?
Have a topic you want to see explored by Enough Stuff more in depth?
🌿 Found a cool circular solution, a sneaky bit of greenwashing, or a sustainability win that deserves a spotlight? Maybe a local brand doing it right, or a little eco news that made your day? I want to hear it! Send it my way: elanlaur@gmail.com 📥

Thanks for sharing your work! I agree -- there are many of us out here doing good work. This line stood out from what you shared:
"Sustainable living isn’t an all-or-nothing sport—it’s a practice, and sometimes we’re in a season of our lives."
This is true for so many things in life. When I started my journey into plant-based, I cut out meat ... then fish ... then cheese ... It's a PROCESS. It's ongoing. And it's a choice.
